The Auxiliary Bishop of Syro-Malabar Archeparchy of Changanacherry, Mar Thomas Tharayil, has come down heavily against the double standards of communist and Congress politicians over the movie #TheKeralaStory.
In a Facebook post, the Bishop questioned the double standards of the politicians who were supporting a drama titled ‘Kakukali’ and in the same vein were opposing the movie #TheKeralaStory. The drama Kakukali drew the ire of the Christian believers for its portrayal of nuns in a bad light.
In his post, Bishop Mar Thomas Tharayil asks the politicians if the word ‘secular’ means ‘vote bank’. He accused the ruling party politicians for encouraging the drama Kakukali even though the drama is making fun of Christian nuns.
He continued that these very people give awards to art that hurt the feelings of the Christian community. As Christians are not a very big vote bank now, it is ok for their feelings to be hurt. However, The Kerala Story is not like that and it must banned quipped the Bishop sarcastically.
Thousands have already given support to the Bishop’s FB post and some have also suggested that The Kerala Story must be shown in Sunday Schools for ‘Educational purpose’.
