Assam Police Arrests Three Leaders of Popular Front

Guwahati. 3 leaders of the banned terrorist organization Popular Front have been arrested by the Assam police. The arrests were made in Barpeta, and the leaders were identified as PFI’s Assam unit president Abu Sama Ahmad, state secretary Zakir Hussain, and PFI’s student body Campus Front of India leader Sahidul Islam.
According to reports, the Assam police have seized money, phones, and pamphlets from the three leaders. One and a half lakh rupees, four mobile phones, and various other documents have been recovered. The Assam police is currently investigating the matter, and further details are awaited.
Last September, the Popular Front of India was banned for five years. Along with the Popular Front, affiliated organizations like Rehab India Foundation, Campus Front of India, All India Imams Council, NCHRO, National Women’s Front, Junior Front, and Empower India Foundation were also banned by the Union Home Ministry.
The central government’s action is being taken into account national security and law and order. The government had banned the organizations due to their involvement in various terrorist activities and inciting communal violence.
