Kerala: Seva Bharati has extended a helping hand to a family that faced foreclosure of their house. Harikumar, a resident of Anikad, Pathanamthitta, along with his wife, mother, and three daughters, had been living in the courtyard of their house for the past six days after authorities confiscated it on March 14. In 2012, Harikumar took a loan of Rs 2 lakh from the Mallapalli Housing Co-operative Society to renovate his house. Although they paid Rs 1.75 lakh, they were unable to recover the title deed.Harikumar mentioned that the situation had deteriorated to the point where they had to stay in the yard for six days. Finally, Seva Bharati arrived and relocated the family to a rented house. The family is now relieved that their daughter, who is appearing for this year’s Plus Two exams, has a quiet place to study. Although doctors suggested an operation for Harikumar, who was suffering from an illness, he postponed it due to a lack of bed space.Seva Bharati activists said that the house will be auctioned from the bank and handed over to the family, as per the wishes of Harikumar’s elderly mother.
